(1. ABSTRACTObjectiveTo study the mechanisms of Chinese Allium fistulosum L. (PCAL) to prevent and therapy fatty liver in rats model . MethodsSixty SD rats were randomly divided into six groups: blank control group, model control group, PCAL low, middle and high groups, dongbaogantai group. Blank control group was given water and food. The other groups were fed with high fat diet, given water comprised of ethanol and treated with a small dose of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) hypodermically once a week to establish the fatty liver model. ResultsCompared with the blank control group, the contents of TC,TG, NO, NOS, VEGF and ICAM1 in the model control group increased significantly(P<0.01); Compared with the model control group, the contents of TC, TG, NO, NOS, VEGF mRNA and ICAM1 in the PCAL low, middle and high groups and dongbaogantai group were decreased significantly(P<0.01 or P<0.05). ConclusionPCAL has preventive and therapeutic effects on fatty liver in rats, possibly through descending blood fat and the impairments of reactive nitrogen and cytokines on liver.
