    ObjectiveTo evaluate the quality of Schisandra chinensis from different areas by determing schizandrin,γschisandrin and total lignans. MethodsSchisandrin and γschisandrin from Fructus Schisandra Chinensis were determined simultaneously by RPHPLC. The relevant parameters were listed as follows:Lichrospher5C18 analytical column;methanolwater in gradient elution as mobile phase;flow speed:1 mL·min1;column temparation:30 ℃;VWD detector with determination wavelength at 250 nm. The total lignans were measured by spectrophotometry. The γschisandrin was used as reference substance, and the absorbance was obtained at 570 nm. ResultsBoth schisandrin and γschisandrin in all samples of Fructus Schisandra Chinensis were above 0.50% and 0.25%, separately, and the total lignans of all samples were above 3.70%. ConclusionSchisandra chinensis from Heilongjiang province contains the maximum of schizandrin and total lignans, the one form Liaoning province has the most of γschisandrin.

    ObjectiveTo identify and determine the relative contents of the components of fatty acids and volatile oil from Origanum vulgara L. MethodsThe fatty acids and volatile oil of Origanum vulgara L were extracted by Soxlet extraction or steam distillation, respectively. Thirtysix compounds in the volatile oil and sixteen compounds in the fatty acid were isolated and identified by gas chromatographymass spectrometry (GC/MS), and the relative contents of the components were determined by the peakarea normalization method of gas chromatography. ResultsThe major components in the fatty acid were unsaturated fatty acid such as 9,12octadecadienoic acid methyl ester (27.40%), 6octadecenoic acid methyl ester (21.99%), hexadecanoic acid methyl ester(10.63%), and the main compounds in volatile oil were thymol (27.20%), pentadecane (6.44%), octadecane (5.53%), 2methyl5(1methylethyl)phenol (5.49%), 1methoxy4methyl2(1methylethyl)benzene (3.18%), hexadecane (2.77%), 1methyl4(5methyl1 methylene4hexenyl)cyclohexene (2.70%).ConclusionThere are many active components in fatty acid and volatile oil components from origanum vulgara.

    ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of SAHA(suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid)on p53 wild type HeLa cells and p53 knockdown HeLaE3 cells. MethodsThe cell’s proliferation were determined by MTT after 24, 48 and 72 h incubation; the cell cycle distribution and cell death were detected by flow cytometry and typanblue assay, respectively.ResultsSAHA significantly suppressed the in vitro proliferation of HeLa and HeLaE3 cells in a time and dose dependent manner. G2/M arrest and cell death of HeLa cells were also elevated by SAHA in 24 h, while HeLa cells were more sensitive to SAHA than HeLaE3 cells.ConclusionThe results show that the sensitivity of tumor cells to SAHA were influenced by p53.

    ObjectiveTo investigate the therapeutic effects of allitridin on organs pathological changes of systemically disseminated MCMV infected mice. MethodsAfter inoculation with Smith strain of MCMV, sixty BALB/c mice were randomly divided into allitridintreated and placebotreated groups. The therapy started at 24 hours after the inoculation. Allitridin was given to mice via intraperitoneal (i.p.) route once a day at 25 mg·kg1·d1;while the same volume of 0.9% sodium chloride solution was given in placebotreated group, and both treatments lasted for 120 d. 3 mice from each group were sacrificed at 1, 3, 7, 14, 28, 45, 60, 75, 90 and 120 d respectively after therapy. The liver, lung, kidney, and myocardium were fixed, sliced at a thickness of 5 μm and stained with hematoxylin and eosin (HE) for histology examination. ResultsThe pathological score of liver, lung and myocardium from allitridintreated group reached peak level on day 7, and kidney on day 14, then all descended gradually. Compared with placebotreated group, the pathological injury was ameliorated in allitridintreated group: the histological activity index (HAI) of livers from both groups were obviously different on day 14 (P<0.01);the Gloor score of lungs were significantly different since day 28(P<0.01);the difference of the pathological score of kidneys and myocardiums was significant since day 14(P<0.05), and became more predominant after day 90(P<0.01). Moreover, on day 120, the liver and lung of allitridintreated mice were nearly normal, while the kidney and myocardium still had some degree of pathological injury. ConclusionAfter treated with allitridin for 2 weeks, the pathological injuries in liver, lung, kidney and myocardium of infected mice were ameliorated obviously, especially in liver and lung.

    ObjectiveTo explore the protective effect of tea polyphenols on lung injury after intestinal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) in rats, and the potential mechanism of which. MethodsThirty two male SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=8 in each). ①Group I/R, in which rats were subjected to 1 hour of occlusion of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA), followed by 2 hours of reperfusion;② Early treatment group (P1), rats were subjected to the same procedure as group I/R with the additional administration of tea polyphenols 10 minutes before ischemia at 10 mg·kg-1 loading dose, followed by continuous infusion at 10 mg·kg1·h1;③ Treatment group (P2), rats were subjected identical treatment as group I/R with the administration of tea polyphenols started 10 minutes before reperfusion at 10 mg·kg-1 loading dose, followed by continuous infusion at 10 mg·kg1·h1;④Shamoperation group, rats were subjected to laparotomy only, but received normal saline at 10 mL·kg1·h1. At the end of reperfusion, all animals were sacrificed. The MPO and TNFα in plasma and lung tissue was assessed.Pathological sections of lung and empty intestine were made ResultsMPO and TNFα in plasma and expression in lung tissue were increased significantly in group I/R. All the increase was less in quantity in the early treatment group of tea polyphenols than those in the other two groups, and there was significant difference in contents and expression in lung between group I/R and group P1( P<0.05). ConclusionMPO and TNFα plays an important role in lung injury after intestinal I/R. The early treatment of tea polyphenols before intestinal I/R may be more beneficial by reducing MPO and TNFα expression in lung injury.

    ObjectiveTo study effect of flurbiprofen axetil on behavior of rats with incisioninduced pain.Methods48 250gweight rats were randomly divided into 6 groups.The incision pain model in rats were established by the Brennan’s method and anesthetized by breathing in isoflurane, except the control group1(D1 group)without operation but anesthetized with isoflurane only.20 m later,the control group1 and control group2(D2 group) were injected with physiological saline by vena caudalis,the other 4 groups were injected with flurbiprofen axetil 2 mg·kg-1,4 mg·kg-1, 8 mg·kg-1,16 mg·kg-1(K1 ,K2,K3,K4 group), respectively.The pain scores were calculated after rats came back to consciousness and 1 hour after injection.ResultsFlurbiprofen axetil decreased calculative pain scores of rats with incision pain in a dosedependent manner.ConclusionAdministration of flurbiprofen axetil could dose relatively suppress the incisionevoked nociceptive behavior.

    ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of tetramethylpyrazine(TMP),an ingredient of Chinese herb,on the accumulation of doxorubicin (DXR) in the drug resistant human hepatocellular carcinoma cells Bel7402/DXR. MethodsTreated with/without DXR and/or TMP,the parental cells Bel7402 and its drug resistant counterpart Bel7402/DXR were divided into 5 groups, in which verapamil(VRP) was used as a positive control. The fluorescent intensity was detected by fluorescence microscope and flow cytometry. ResultsThe mean fluorescent intensity of Resistance+DXR,Resistance +DXR+TMP、Resistance +DXR+VRP were (50.03±6.01),(119.34±5.4)% and 169.25±21.0)% of Parental+DXR by fluorescence microscope, respectively,while the data of which from the flow cytometry assay were (82.08±6.98)%,(134.43±39.5)% and (262.74±47.18)%,respectively. ConclusionTMP can increase the accumulation of DXR in the drug resistant Bel7402/DXR cells slightly,by acting as a potential reversal drug on Pgp.

    ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of LTHP on hemeoxygenase1(HO1) in liver and endogenous carbon monoxide(CO) during global ischemiareperfusion in rats. MethodsCerebral ischemiareperfusion model was produced in SD rats. Among three groups: sham group(S), ischemiareperfusion group(I) and LTHP group(R), HO1 activity in liver and COhb level in blood were evaluated, respectively at 2, 6, 12, 24 and 48 hour during global cerebral ischemiareperfusion. ResultsHO1 activity, COhb content in group R were elevated, respectively at 2,6,12,24 hour(P<0.05), compared with group S and I, and which reached the highest level at 12 hour(P<0.05). ConclusionLTHP could increase COhb by elevating the activity of HO1, attenuate liver injury during global cerebral ischemiareperfusion, and protect liver.

    ObjectiveTo study the intestinal absorption kinetics of breviscapine selfemulsions. MethodsEstablishing the in situ perfusion model in rats, and adjusting the volume of perfusion fluid by phenolsulfonphthalein. The contents of phenolsulfonphthalein and Breviscapine of perfusion fluid were detected by using chromatometry and HPLC. ResultsKa remained invariant as Breviscapine in selfemulsions was at 20,40,80 μg·mL1. There was linear relationship of Breviscapine in selfemulsions between logarithm contents of the surplus in different zone of bowel and time. Meanwhile, the rate of absorption in different zone of bowel showed no significant differences. ConclusionThe absorption of Breviscapine selfemulsions in small intestine is a firstorder process. The mechanism of absorption is a passive diffusion wihtout specific site.

    ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of LQCcontained serum on apoptosis related genes expression and proliferation of human pulmonary adenocarcinoma A549 cells in vitro. MethodsMTT assay was used to detect the inhibition rate of A549 cells treated with LQCcontained serum in 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. And RTPCR was used to measure the mRNA expression of apoptosis related genes Cmyc and survivin on A549 cells. The cells morphological changes by LQCcontained serum were observed with WrightGiemsa staining. ResultsThe LQCcontained serum in various concentrations inhibited proliferation of A549 cells directly in a dosedependent way. The results by RTPCR showed that LQC contained serum downregulated expression of survivin gene. In contrast, it upregulated expression of Cmyc gene. LQCcontained serum also changed the morphological structure of A549 cells. ConclusionLQCcontained serum has a strong inhibitory effect on proliferation of A549 cells, and the mechanism may be related with regulation of apoptosis related genes, which may provide the strong proof for antitumor effects of LQC.

    ObjectiveTo study the effects of total flavones of propolis(TFP) on cardiomyocyte apoptosis of viral myocarditis in mice. MethodsEstablished the model of viral myocarditis in mice by intraperitoneal inoculation with Coxsackie virus B3 solution. Animals were divided into normal control, model control, TFP low dose, and TFP high dose groups. Treatment started 30 min after inoculation, and lasted for 7d. Cardiomyocyte apoptosis was measured by TUNEL. The expressions and activity of caspase3 was assessed by using Western blot and so forth. ResultsTFP decreased the cardiomyocyte apoptosis, inhibited the expression and activity of caspase3. ConclusionTFP could inhibit cardiomyocyte apoptosis of viral myocarditis in mice, by downregulating expression and activity of caspase3.

    ObjectiveTo study the effect of compound achyranthes bidentata oral liquor(CAB) on cerebral hematoma in rabbits. MethodsThe model of experimental cerebral hematoma was produced by injecting autogenous blood into the rabbit cerebral parenchyma. CAB was used through stomach at the dosages 1.85 ,3.70,7.40 g·kg1 everyday since the second day of model establishment. Rabbits were sacrificed three days later. The influences of CAB on brain index, contents of water, Na+, Fe3+, SOD, MDA in brain tissues and the change of cerebrovascular permeability were observed. ResultsCAB could markedly decrease brain index, contents of water, MDA in brain tissues and cerebrovascular permeability, and increase contents of Fe3+, SOD in brain tissues of cerebral hematoma rabbits. ConclusionCAB can obviously promote hematoma absorbance of rabbits, and improve the nerve function. CAB is an effective therapy for patients with intracerebral haemorrhage.

    ObjectiveTo investigate the acute toxicity of secnidazole [1(2methyl5nitroimidazole1yl) propan2ol] for injection (SI) at a single dose in mice and dogs. MethodsThe maximal administration dose(MAD)and the approx imate lethal dose(ALD) were studied in 40 mice and three Beagle dogs by intravenous injection and through intravenous drip, respectively. Both animals were kept on observing for 14 days. ResultsAll mice were alive after injection and the nerve toxicity symptoms such as reduced activity, languishment and twitch were found during one hour after administration. The dog died at 2 000 mg·kg1of SI, activity was decreased at 1 330 mg·kg1, and remained normal at 890 mg·kg1. ConclusionThe MAD of SI is above 500 mg·kg1 in mice. The ALD is 1 330~2 000 mg·kg1 and the no observed adverse effect level(NOAEL)is 890 mg·kg1 in dog by intravenous drip. The main toxicity is appeared in nerve system in both animals.

    ObjectiveTo investigate the chromatographic fingerprints of volatile oil from Semen Alpiniae Katsumadai by GCMS. MethodsThe volatile oil was extracted from Semen Alpiniae Katsumadai by SFECO2, chromatographic fingerprints of which was detected and calculated by GCMS, and the mutual fingerprints of ten kinds essential oil from Semen Alpiniae Katsumadai was established. ResultsThe method was proved to be accuracy, reproducible and stability, by which the ideal fingerprints of volatile oil from Semen Alpiniae Katsumadai were obtained. ConclusionThe methods set up are beneficial for the quality control of Semen Alpiniae Katsumadai.

    ObjectiveTo analyze the volatile oil from Artemisia indica of Guangxi. MethodsThe volatile oil was extracted from Artemisia indica by supercritical fluid extraction(SFE) and steam distillation(SD), respectively, and which were separated and identified by GCMS. The relative percentage content of components was determined by the area normalization method. Results48 components of Artemisia indica had been identified by SFE and 30 components by SD, which accounted for above 77.69 % and 86.54 % of the total essential oil, respectively. ConclusionThe chemical constituents and their contents of volatile oil extracted by two methods were different significantly.

    ObjectiveTo explore the influence of ApoAI gene polymorphism on the lipidlowering effect of atorvastatin. MethodsPCRRFLP method was used to detect the ApoAI gene polymorphism of 324 patients with hyperlipemia, and studied the effect of ApoAI gene 75 bp and + 83 bp on serum lipids of 109 patients in which .ResultsThe levels of high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLC) at genotype 75 bp site were as that: M1 -- group >M1+ - group>M1 + + group, and patients with M1   genotype had significantly higher serum lipids(P<0.05), the results draw after 12 weeks of medication showed no difference as before. The decrease of TC and LDLC in genotype M1-- was significantly potent than that in M1 + -and M1 + +. Serum lipids were similar in different genotype groups at + 83 bp site. ConclusionApoAI -75 bp site polymorphism is associated with serum lipids levels, and where G/A transition is related to hyperlipemia. The effect of Atorvastatin is declined sequentially as M1 --group> M1 + -group> M1 + + group. There is no significant influence of genotype at +83 bp sites on drug effects.

    ObjectiveTo compare the different dehydrations on contents of Hydroxysafflor yellow A in Carthamus tinctorius L. extracts.MethodsThe Hydroxysafflor yellow A in dried products which was determined by reversedphase high performance liquid chromatography(RPHPLC) was used to as a main indicator for comparing different drying methods.ResultsThe content of Hydroxysafflor yellow A obtained by using vacuum dehydration,spray drying and lyophillization was 3.21%,8.55%,8.20%, respectively. ConclusionThe spray dehydration and lyophillization are more compatible to drying Carthamus tinctorius L. extracts.

    ObjectiveTo explore the optimal condition for purifying total flavonoids from Christina Loosestrife Herb with macroporous resin. MethodsGradient elution was used to elute the components absorbted on macroporous resin by the degree of purification and recovery rate. ResultsThe purity of total flavonoids in obtained ointment could reach 60.8% under the condition that NKA9 type of macroporous resin was used as absorption agent and 50 mL 50% ethanol used as elution agent. ConclusionThe method could be used to provide crude materials for study and production of total flavonoids from Christina Loosestrife Herb.

    ObjectiveTo detect the nitrogen balance after operation with the total parenteral nutrition. Methods24 cases after abdomen operation with the total parenteral nutrition were studied. The nitrogen concentration in 24 h urine was detected by Kjeldahl Nitrogen Determination method. ResultsThe recovery of the method were 99.16%, 101.24% and 102.94% respectively;RSD were 1.52% ,0.78% and 0.74% respectively. The intraday and interday relative standard deviations were 0.32% and 0.67%, respectively. The nitrogen balance per day within 3 days was (-2.59±1.66),(-1.23±1.98)and(-0.14±2.11) respectively. ConclusionThe urine nitrogen concentration of patients was successfully detected by using Kjeldahl Nitrogen Determination method. Patients after abdomen operation with total parenteral nutrition would suffer the negative nitrogen balance within 3 days.
